BIM research strategies

Summary 

In this short class we will present the most common techniques for verifying and validating CBIM solutions. The class will start with a brief introduction into the basic philosophy of Advanced Engineering Informatics, the academic discipline focusing on researching how computational methods can be used to formalize complex domain specific engineering knowledge and how such formalization than can support creative engineering design. Based on this introduction, we will discuss different methods to collect data: From illustrative prototypical tests towards full blown practical implementations in industry. Additionally, the class will also provide insights into different qualitative and quantitative approaches to analyze data. Finally, general aspects with respect to generalizing research results will be discussed.
